W.C.Y.A.A. Rules on Selecting Select Coaches and Players

 

 

 

The W.C.Y.A.A. has established the following criteria for selecting Select/All-Star Team coaches and players. The criteria is as follows:

 

The W.C.Y.A.A. will advertise notices in the Wilson Daily Times and on the W.C.Y.A.A. web page. He will send out letters to the W.C.Y.A.A. Booster Club Presidents notifying them of dates and times of each tryout.

 

Each community will have one vote in the selection process for the coaches and players.

The coaches that vote will be selected by the individual communities. If the W.C.Y.A.A.

have two all-star teams in a particular age division, then there will be three votes for each division.

 

Each voting coach must attend each tryout or the community will lose their vote. There will be no replacement voting coaches.

 

The Athletic Director will oversee the selection process.

 

Each player must attend a minimum of two of the three tryout sessions. If a player does not attend the minimum number of tryouts, then he/she cannot be placed on the voting list. There will be no exceptions.

 

The head coach must have one year of head coaching experience in that particular sport or he/she must go before the W.C.Y.A.A. board to be approved.

 

The approved head coach may select one assistant coach from his/her community but the third assistant coach must come from another community.

 

Adding players to the Select/all-star team: All coaches in the particular age group must be notified and a majority must approve any changes that the head coaches make to the roster. The W.C.Y.A.A. Athletic Director must be notified of any changes.

 

Cost of umpires/baseballs/softballs/uniforms/equipment: These items must be paid for by the individual select/all-star teams. No W.C.Y.A.A. monies may be used.  

 

The W.C.Y.A.A. Athletic Director will book the umpires for the select/all-star teams thru the W.C.Y.A.A. umpire’s association.

 

The dates and times of the select/all-star tryouts will be set by the W.C.Y.A.A. Athletic Director.

 

All players making the W.C.Y.A.A. all-star team must be living in Wilson County or be Babe Ruth approved exception.
