Mickey attended the state baseball meeting held on January 8 in Greenville. Mickey nothing will be done concerning the West Raleigh situation but we can divide out 8U Rookie teams into 8 year olds and 7 year olds for select baseball. This will not effect the regular season teams at all. This structure can be used since the 8U Rookie Division is a invitational tournament only.
The Board discussed how to divide the 8U Rookie Division for the all-star/select teams. There was a motion by Junior Wilson and seconded by Adam Gardner to have a 8U team and a 7U team for the 2006 Season. This motion passed by 9-1.
The older age division must be structured according to Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. guidelines since these teams are playing in a tournament trail leading to a World Series berth. At 10 regular season teams, according to the Babe Ruth rulebook, an organization must have two all-star teams. The board decided (without a vote) to continue the East-West process that the W.C.Y.A.A. since 1989.
