Total Teams in W.C.Y.A.A.   ***45***

Each community is continuing to register players for 2005-2006 Basketball Season. Mickey will run an article in the paper advertising for certain age division. Registrations will still be accepted through November 25.

Basketball and scorebook purchases will be handled by each individual community this year.

Paperwork (individual forms and roster sheets) plus fees are due to the W.C.Y.A.A. offices on Friday, November 25th, from 9:00am to 12:00pm. If paperwork is not received during this time period, then the schedule meeting will be delayed.

***Kenly Parks and Recreation Dept. will also play with us in the 2005-2006 Season.

Tim Narron, Kenly P/R Director, will sign a form stating that each team is divided equally. If a 2 teams in an age division are not divided equally, those teams will be taken out of the league immediately.

Mickey also suggested that for the 2006-2007 basketball season, he would like to see the league start playing games the first week of January, 2007. This would allow the players and parents to get through with the existing sports they are participating in. Mickey told the board that at the present time, the W.C.Y.A.A. had 60 players playing tackle football at Rock Ridge, almost 200 players playing soccer, 40 playing flag football, and 40 more playing girl’s volleyball at Lucama. Also, the older kids are trying out for the middle school and JV teams. By starting the signups in early November, 2006, the league could start basketball practices in December and thus avoid the players still being active in other W.C.Y.A.A. sports. No decision was made on Mickey’s recommendation but it will be looked at early next fall.

A schedule meeting will be held on Sunday, November 27, at 8:00am, and the W.C.Y.A.A. offices in Lucama. One representative from each community is needed. No extra people are needed at the meeting! This is not the time to train people to work on schedules.

Mickey told the board that he would announce on Thursday, November 3, if there would be any changes to the 8U and 10U Baseball tryout schedule. This is being looked at due to the complaint letter Mickey sent to Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. Headquarters concerning the number of all-star teams that a league may have.

***All 8U and 10U Baseball Tryouts were cancelled on Thursday, November 3,

by Mickey. Mickey has advertised the cancellations through the web page,

calling Booster Club Presidents, and through e-mails.

Mickey gave a brief overlay of the select tryouts that have been held so far. So far, two tryouts in the  8U Softball, 14U Baseball WS, and the 9U Baseball have been held.  Tryout results will be posted on the webpage and on the W.C.Y.A.A. office door immediately after each vote.

The board decided that if the Select Team voters did not pick 15 players to fill the team, then another tryout would be held in late January for each select team. This was passed by a 5-2 vote. This includes the 2006 14U WS team.
