The W.C.Y.A.A. Board met on Sunday, October 16, 4:00pm, at the W.C.Y.A.A. offices.
Morris Jones, Adam Gardner, Todd Driver, Richard Evans, Jay Collins, Bexley Eatmon, and Sherry Edwards serve as representatives for the meeting. Athletic Director Mickey Davis presided over the meeting.
Topics discussed were as follows:
1) Mickey passed out a listing of the re-scheduled fall league games that has been posted on the web page.
2) Mickey also passed out a listing of the 2006 Select Tryouts to the representatives. There was a change in the location of the 9U Baseball tryouts from Lucama to New Hope due to the 8U Rookie Tournament Lucama is hosting October 21-22.
3) Bexley discussed the benefits for the Athletic Director’s position. He has talked with Bobbie Sid Boyette and Randy McLawhorn had talked with another county
commissioner about the benefits being paid by the county. Bexley said that the best possible outcome would be in July of 2006.
After much discussion, Jay Collins made a motion for the W.C.Y.A.A. to use monies from the 2006 14 year old World Series to pay the Athletic Director’s benefits until the county commissioner’s hopefully added the cost to the 2006-2007 fiscal budget. Morris Jones seconded the motion and its passed 6-1.
The representatives conclude the meeting by discussing a W.C.Y.A.A. Golf Tournament the last weekend in March of 2006. Each community would be asked to get 8 teams (four members per team) at a cost of $200.00 per team. The details of the tournament will be worked out at the December 1st W.C.Y.A.A. Board Meeting.
