Meeting Minutes:
District Four Baseball Commissioner held a district meeting on Sunday, February 17th, at the Wilson County Youth Athletic Association office in Lucama. The meeting started at 4:00pm. Those in attendance were Brad Burress (Greene County Parks & Recreation Director), Russell Renfrow (W.C.Y.A.A. coach), Greg Lamm (W.C.Y.A.A. coach) and District Four Commission Mickey Davis.
Topics discussed were as follows:
Coaches Certification Program: Is now lifetime! All coaches listed on the roster are required to take and Babe Ruth Certification! There are no exceptions.

Mickey asked Green County A.D. Brad Burress to get him a copy of the Greene County map and to sign it. Mickey has copies of the Wilson, Johnston, and Wayne County maps signed. These are required by the National Headquarters.

Mickey passed out state tournament requirements that will need to be in each team’s tournament books.
State Tournament Changes:
No motel rooms will be required for teams traveling at least 100 miles for a state
Tournament. In the past one room was provided for each team traveling 100 miles
Or more.
Increased the state tournament admission fees to: $5.00 for adults $2.00 for students
Free for under school age
Umpires pay for state tournaments: 13-15 Umpires: $45.00 each
Cal Ripken Umpires: $35.00
16-18 Babe Ruth Umpires: $55.00
Umpires commuting more than 35 each way will be offered a motel room (no effect on
pay). Two umpires to a motel room is the maximum.
Only three teams will be allowed from each district for the 8U Rookie State
Tournament. If a district has more teams, a district tournament must be held to pick the
teams.
State Tournament Fees starting in 2008:
8U Rookie and 9U $50.00 per team with a maximum amount of $1,000.00
10-12 Cal Ripken $500.00 flat rate
13-15 Babe Ruth $500.00 flat rate
16-18 Babe Ruth $50 per team with a maximum amount of $500.00 for
both age divisions combined
All district, state, and headquarter roster copies are to come
directly to Mickey/District Commissioner so he can pass them on to the correct
areas. Also, state fees, $5.00 per team in all age divisions, must accompany
the rosters.

Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth Baseball Divisions –
1. Rule
0.04 – The Coaches Education Program will be added as Paragraph 5 -
“Babe Ruth League, Inc. rostered managers and coaches are required to complete
coaching education and certification.”
2. Tournament Regulations – Rule 11.04 Documents,
Paragraph 1 - “Coaching Certification I.D. Card or Certificate.
Tournament Managers and Coaches must complete coaching education and
certification prior to the start of their first level of tournament
competition” will be added as letter (h).
3. Tournament Regulations - Rule 11.06,
Paragraph 7 will be changed to indicate the following: The host teams for
all divisions of Babe Ruth Baseball, having received eligibility approval from
Babe Ruth League, Inc. and at their League President’s discretion, shall be
eligible to enter official tournament competition one level below the
tournament level they will be hosting.
4. Local League - Tournament Play - Leagues
may choose to wear the shoulder emblem or hat emblem. Emblems must permanently
affix to the uniform or hat.
